Investment in education is the only way to progress

KARACHI: Former governor Lt Gen (r) Moinuddin Haider has said that Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, (MAJU) Karachi, one of the country’s private universities, has shown that investment in education is the only way to progress.

“Young graduates feel proud that they have been students of an institution that has been a role model because MAJU has consistently invested time, money and resources to fight evils of society,” he said while addressing at Muhammad Ali Jinnah University, Karachi sixth convocation at PAF Museum Convention Centre as chief guest.

About 350 students conferred MBA and BBA degrees in Business Administration and Computer Science discipline on this occasion. In recognition of services rendered in the field of medical, CEO, Indus Hospital, Dr Abdul Bari khan awarded Honorary Doctorate degree. Those who addressed to MAJU convocation and awarded degrees and medals to student included President, Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, Karachi, Prof.Dr. Abdul Wahab, Provincial Minister of Education Nisar Ahmad Khoro, Public Affairs Officer, US consulate, Mark E Kendreck, Director, Sindh and Balochistan, British High Commission, Robin Davies, Executive Director, Punjab Group of Colleges, Prof. Sohail Afzal and Member Board of Governor, MAJU, Ali Muhammad G. Shailk.

Moinuddin Haider said that over the years we have seen MAJU empower its graduate with initiative; leadership skills; critical thinking and problem solving ability. He said that it is an opportune moment for him to pay a tribute to President MAJU, Prof. Dr. Abdul Wahab for his inspiring leadership, strategic vision, and his profound commitment to education. In his welcome address President, MAJU, Prof. Dr. Abdul Wahab said that he strongly believe that educational Institutions should lead the society rather than be its reflection.

 The educational institutions should be role model, he added. He said that MAJU students, faculty and staff are fully aware of three objectives which we are following here are to develop professional competence, to include moral values and to ignite a burning desire to achieve something great in life. –Agencies
